Jellystone Park

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

We went on a fun adventure with our friends to Jellystone Park in Waller. The big hit of the day was the water park area complete with slides, water cannons, a picnic basket that dumped water on the kids, and a splash area. Brady loved every minute of it but of course Cash hung out down below and played in the shallow area. I begged and begged him to let me take him down the little slide but he wanted no part of that. He refused to walk up the steps, instead he preferred just to run around and play with his football. Brady then discovered the huge tunnel slide and was done with the splash area and on to bigger and better things. After hours and hours of swimming, we had lunch and then ventured to an indoor "Comfy Land" to play and cool off because it was so hot outside. Next, we took a stroll through the campground and discovered the craft center with several arts and crafts for the campers. We opted to decorate t-shirts with paint markers. (Check out Cash's mad face because he can't get the lid off of his marker). All of the kids were really getting into their masterpieces when we had a huge surprise, YOGI! Yogi Bear, himself, actually came to visit with the kids and welcome them to his home. They were all so shocked and excited! Then, we walked around the camp some more and found a miniature golf course. The kids all played until we were just worn out and exhausted from the heat and the long, action-packed day. We finished our visit off with dinner and a quick visit to the petting zoo. Luckily, I brought pajamas because the boys were asleep for the night before I pulled out of the park. Thanks Yogi for the fabulous day with our friends at your park!

The Graduate

Little Lambs Pre-K Graduation
Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Tear! Tear! What a sad but happy day! Brady had been looking forward to his Little Lambs graduation for weeks and was ready to go to a "big" school. If anyone was ever academically ready for Kindergarten, it was Brady! He knew all of his letters and letter sounds when he was only two and could count to 100 when he was a young three. If this is any sign, Kindergarten should be a breeze for him!

All of the children walked into the auditorium with their classes to the graduation march. Oh my! This is where the tears began and never ended for me until the end of the ceremony. The music struck such a chord with me. You would of thought that Brady was graduating from high school, I was so emotional.

My handsome graduate and his pretty blue eyes!

Brady and his class sang several songs throughout the ceremony.

Brady was so thrilled to receive his diploma that he bypassed his teachers who were waiting to give him a hug and made a bee line for his long awaited certificate. Everyone in the audience gave a little chuckle at his excitement.

Kindergarten, here I come!

Who knew a diploma could help you play pirates with your friends!

Brady's class celebrated with ice cream sundaes. Can you say brain freeze!

Team Bartels

Cash wants to play baseball sooo badly. All you have to say is "baseball ready" and he goes right into position. It's so cute! I love the picture of Team Bartels, including Zoe, ready to catch Brady's ball. Baseball ready!!!

NASA

Friday, May 13, 2011

When I told Brady that we were going to visit NASA, he immediately ran to put on his astronaut suit like there was no question that's what he was wearing. Everyone at the space center could not get over how cute that he looked!

My space lover Brady was so excited to be at NASA that he was literally flying around the exhibit hall.

Do not be surprised if one day you see Astronaut Brady being honored at NASA in his own exhibit. I know that he is going to reach the stars someday!

Cash loved playing in the tot zone. He has so much fun filling up an air tank with "asteroid" balls which were then lifted into "space" and eventually dropped to blast the kids. He completed this mission over and over again!

While at the Living in Space show, the presenter asked for a member of the audience to be a volunteer. Everyone pointed to Brady which made his day! I guess you get special treatment if you're in a space suit! Ha ha! As soon as he reached the stage, Brady jumped up and down as high as I have ever seen him jump before. His knees were almost touching his chin! He was just so darn happy! This prompted the presenter to ask how old he was because she thought he was too young to be a part of the show. I assured her that Brady was fine and that he was merely excited.

She went through the usual drill of asking him his name, his age, his school, and where he was from. Brady confidently answered everything but paused on the last question. I was getting nervous thinking, "Come on Brady, you know this. Say, Houston, Texas." She asked him three times and still nothing. Then, the last time she prompted him, Brady matter of factly said, "EARTH!!!" Everyone in the audience died laughing! It was hysterical and technically Brady is correct, he is from Earth! This will be a story that I will remember forever and will be telling the grandkids. It was priceless!

Brady and Cash checking out their model spaceships that they made from a sheet of paper in a craft station.

We had to go into the awesome ball pit one last time before we went left the space center. Watch out!

Curious George

Discovery Green
Wednesday, May 11, 2011

We had a fun picnic in the park in order to catch one of Cash's favorite guys in person, Curious George!

Curious George greeted all of the kids and then read them a story.

We all danced along with George to fun songs like the Hokey Pokey and Pop Goes the Weasel.

Say cheese!

After the Curious George show, we raced with our friends to play in the big park.

We capped off our day at the park by stripping off our shirts and playing in the fountains. As you can see by their hair, Cash's goal is to avoid the water and Brady's mission is to be right in the middle of the action! Splish Splash!
