A...B...C...

Cash can sing his ABC's!!!!

Call a Medic!

Today we went to the urgent care center to remove Cash's stitches. Last Friday night while Cash was running in the kitchen, he fell and slid into the stone archway around the stovetop. His forehead basically collided with a stone wall and started gushing blood immediately. It wasn't a very long cut, only about half an inch, but extremely deep. After a couple of hours of bleeding through his butterfly bandage we, I, took him to see the doctor. Why is it always me that gets to endure these types of medical torture sessions?

Cash was a trooper until he had to be laid on the table for the examination. The torture session began when the nurses proceeded to strap him down from head to toe in a blue velcro body wrap. Cash was at this point screaming bloody murder. If this wasn't enough, he then received three shots on his forehead to numb the area. Cash is screaming even louder. The doctor keeps shoving her whole index finger repeatedly into the wound to make sure he can't feel the pain. Cash is screaming even louder if that is possible. They keep assuring me that he can't feel it. The doctor applies the first suture and does some more shoving of the finger. More screaming! I ask again and they say he can't feel a thing and that Cash is only screaming because he's strapped down. Enter the second suture and Cash gives an immediate screeching yell and now the doctor realizes that Cash does feel the pain. They had not given him enough medication to numb the area. This is very hard for me to even type right now and I can't even begin express the emotion I was feeling at the time. My poor sweet baby was then given two more shots on the forehead before his third and final stitch. After he was released from his "chamber," I was never so relieved to hold my baby.

That evening Cash woke up from the pain immediately after his Tylenol had worn off. Other than that, you would not know anything was wrong with him except for the evidence on his forehead. He's actually loving the fact that he hasn't had to do the horrible hair washing deed that he so dreads at bath time. I unfortunately lost the photo of his mohauk hairdo before the suture removal procedure. There was no water, gel, or any other products in it except his own dirty, smelly, greasy, day six hair. Very organic! Ha!

Horseshoe Junction

Brady and I had the BEST TIME celebrating Cass' birthday in Brenham. Horseshoe Junction is super cool place with bumper boats, go carts, miniature golf, bowling, and tons of arcade games. Poor Cash wasn't big enough to ride the attractions so he stayed home with Daddy while Mommy and Brady spent the day together. I wish I had a picture of Brady's face while we were riding the go carts, it was priceless! I have never seen him so excited about anything, not even Spiderman. It was a face that I will try to remember in my heart forever, along with the sweet day that we spent to together. We didn't want the fun to end so we even stopped on our way home at the Blue Bell Creamery to treat ourselves to some ice cream!

Camp Cook

Chef Brady attended a cooking class at Camp Cook today with his buddy Nathan. Today's session was Silly Storytime Fun. They heard a story, crafted the story, cooked the story, and then ate the story! Today's story was "If You Give a Mouse a Cupcake" and the kids made Itty Bitty Boston Cream Cake Pies. When we picked the boys up, Brady and Nathan were both picking up their plates to lick the pudding off of the cupcakes. They could not keep their tongues off of them! They were pretty yummy! I must admit that I had to take Brady's word for it after the licking spree.

Cooking definitely inspired Brady to want play in his kitchen at home today. Check out Aunt Jemima stirring it up in the background too!

Fourth of July

Sunday, July 4, 2010

We spent the day bowling with the Messmer family and later went to the golf course to watch fireworks and shoot some of our own! I promise the boys were having a good time, it was just super late so they were tired, little "firecrackers" and had lost some of their "sparkle."

Have a Bunch of Fun

The old gang had a bunch of fun playing at a new play place in the neighborhood appropriately named "Have a Bunch of Fun."

Summer Days

What have we been doing this summer? Swimming lessons, gymnastics, storytime, play dates with friends, but mostly, we've just been hanging out at home being silly. Their latest form of entertainment was turning the Cozy Coupe into a golf cart and pretending to go out for a round of golf. Cash will say, "Need my putter" and Brady will tell him, "We're on the green now" and hop down from the top of the cart. Daddy, this is a hint to take the boys out to play golf.

Future Engineer

Brady’s favorite toys are Buzz and Spiderman but his favorite activity is Trios. They are similar to Legos but are small with sticks and attachments like Tinkertoys. He can play with them for hours at a time and is quite good actually. One morning, Brady woke up and said, “Mommy, I want to build this.” He had been thinking and planning in his bed while waiting on everyone else to wake up. It was a picture of the space shuttle on the cover of his Rockets book. I had no idea how he would make it and knew a frustration fit was soon to come. After about thirty minutes of him sizing things up and making sure everything was level and freestanding, this is what Brady came up with. I was pretty impressed. Everything was symmetrical and the space shuttle could even detach from the rocket engines. Brady easily can be an engineer someday when he grows up just for the way he plans and constructs things. He even knows the mathematical formula aspect of building. This was our exact conversation one day:
B: Mommy, 5 plus 5 equals 10.
M: Yes, Brady.
B: And, 10 plus 10 equals 20.
M: Wow, Brady, good job!
B: So, 5 plus 5 plus 5 plus 5 equals 20!
M (to myself): What the heck Brady!

Father's Day

Sunday, June 20, 2010

We wanted to get Daddy something special this year for Father’s Day and decided on a tent. We had been to a friend’s house recently that had a tent set up in the backyard where the Dad and kids had a campout the night before. This seemed to peak Daddy’s interest and I thought it would be a fun thing for him to do with the boys. Brady liked the idea so I took him with me to Academy to help pick one out the week before. Brady was really good about keeping it a secret until the day before Father’s Day. We were all reading the paper (some just tearing the paper) when Brady saw an Academy ad across the table and shouted, “Mommy, look, that’s what we bought Daddy!” Daddy laughed and I tried to play it off that we bought him the sunglasses on the same page. I had him going for a little bit until Brady said, “No mommy this one sleeps four, ours sleeps 8.” Jeez, after that, there was no going back; Brady even knew the tent lingo. So much for the surprise! For fun, the next morning I had Cash help me push in the heavy unwrapped tent box to Daddy since the suspense was over. When Daddy opened it, he saw the best gift of all inside, Brady!

Vacation Bible School

Friday, June 18, 2010

The theme of this summer’s session was High Seas Expedition. Brady had fun making several crafts which he of course related to pirates: a telescope, a steering wheel, a captain’s hat, and several other little trinkets. Even though he had a good time with the expedition theme, Brady still received the message that the Bible is full of God’s words. He even asked me, “Mommy, do you know who lives in your heart? God, and God will always love you.” The last day of the session included a performance filled with all the week's songs and messages. Brady did wonderful and yes, the woman with the pink phone was right in Brady’s face and is a story for another time. Let’s just say that Mommy had to keep reminding herself that this was Vacation Bible School and to set a good example.

Yum!

Notice that Casharooski is always checking Brady Bear out and always wants to have what he has (as long as it's not fruit or anything healthy)!

Check Me Out

Thursday, June 3, 2010

By the time Cash’s session with the Little Gym ended in June, he had become an old pro. He looked like a monkey swinging on the bars and a little acrobat on the beam. It was so fun to see Cash in the spotlight for once. He proudly walked on the platform to receive his award. Cash wore it on his shirt all day and strutted his stuff like he was really something, which he is!

Happy Anniversary

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Mommy and Daddy celebrated their ninth anniversary in style with kids in tow at a hibachi grill. It has become a tradition that we always do hibachi for special events because the kids have a blast watching the chefs cook and Mommy and Daddy just love the food. Cash gave everyone in the restaurant a good laugh when a fire flared on the grill. Without prompting, he pointed his toy fireman at the fire, pretending to put it out. He was so pleased with our response that he started extinguishing fires throughout the restaurant.

On a side note, this toy fireman has become Cash's constant companion. He loves this little guy. If he ever asks for "Ironman" or an "army man," don’t worry -- 90% of the time he really means "fireman," so your chances are good if you bring him this toy. Besides, he pronounces them all pretty much the same with his cute little voice. (Not to say that I’m planning a birthday yet -- after all, I would never think of doing such a thing so early (wink, wink), but I see a fireman party in Cash’s near future!)"

***Flashback: The first time we took Brady to a hibachi grill he was a little over two. At that time, he surprisingly loved to watch cooking shows with me more than he did cartoons. We explained that a chef was going to cook our food so when the male Asian chef came to our table, Brady exclaimed, “That not Rachel Ray!”
