Goldilocks

Top Secret: Cash wore his hair in a barrette all day. His bangs are just so long that they are uncomfortably poking his eyes and I am constantly whisking them out of his face. I decided this was a much easier solution and secretly fun for me who lives in a house full of boys. Daddy, such a party pooper, immediately told me to take it out as soon as he got home. Good news is my friend Cynthia is professionally “styling” his hair Monday. She had always sworn that she would never cut a child’s hair but I think she felt a little sorry for Cash’s last bad haircut that she is going to fix him up. I can’t wait! By the way, the barrette went back in when Daddy left and will be there all weekend when we are at home. Shhh!

Safari School

Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Last month, our friend Nathan had such amazing time at the zoo’s Safari School that we wanted to join in on the fun this time around. Brady could not wait for his class this month on Tigers! During the class, the instructor taught us all about tigers; let us explore some furs, skulls, paw prints, and an actual tiger paw; and even brought a real tiger for us to pet (just kidding, it was only a cat, same thing, right?). Then we made a tiger craft and ended the session by following the instructor to tour the tiger exhibit in the zoo. We had such a great Mommy and Brady day that we treated ourselves to cupcakes on the way home.

Prayer Rock

Tuesday, February 23, 2010
In Brady’s backpack, I found a cloth wrapped rock with an attached note saying “Prayer Rock.” I disregarded it and went about my day and eventually forgot about it. That night when I was putting Brady to bed he said, “Oh wait, I need my rock!” I went downstairs to get it, gave it to him, he immediately put it on his pillow, put his head down, and then in dramatic Brady fashion screamed, “Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, oh, I need to pray.” He then crawled out of bed, sat Indian style (oops, can’t say that anymore, he sat criss-cross, applesauce), put his hands together, closed his eyes, bowed his head, and said, “Dear God, thank you for all the stuff you do. Amen!” He hopped back in bed, stood up on the foot of the bed, dropped his rock on the ground and said he needed to do that so he would step on the rock in the morning and remember to pray again. I was in awe the entire time. All of this came from the little boy I have never taught how to pray. He had learned all of this at school. This just shows whenever you don’t think children are learning or are too young, they are absorbing everything around them. Every night since then, Brady has been praying at bedtime in the same manner. I must admit though that I did add to the drill “Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, and Cash” to which Brady has even added “and Brady.” So sweet!

Funny story: Cash watches everything Brady does and thinks he’s so cool. Right after Brady gently dropped his rock on the ground in the same fashion as a golfer would “drop” his ball, Cash quickly grabbed the rock while Brady was praying with his eyes closed and eagerly stood on top of Brady’s bed and chunked it across the room.

Love Bugs

Monday, February 22, 2010
Again, the cold weather has been keeping us trapped inside. I can’t wait for nicer weather so we can go out to play and get some much needed energy out. In the mean time to keep busy, we have been creative around here with crafts, coloring, and other fun stuff, not too mention a lot of movies to Brady’s satisfaction.

The other day we baked some fun bug shaped blueberry muffins thanks to a bug baking pan from Grandma. The boys helped pour, mix, lick the batter and Brady even counted my 50 strokes for me. (I apologize for the mom bragging I’m about to do but this is basically my baby book and I have to document these milestones. Sorry for the obnoxiousness.) For the last couple of months, Brady has been able to count to 100 flawlessly! He is so smart that it kind of scares me. He actually thinks he can count to 1,000 but it’s so cute I don’t have the heart to correct him. He will count to one hundred perfectly then goes “one A hundred, two A hundred, three A hundred”, and so on until he proudly reaches one thousand! I just love the “A” he adds every time that I can’t help but smile. One of these days when I’m prepared to spend all day listening to a thousand numbers, I’ll have to sit him down and teach him the right way. Until then I’m sticking to this new number system!

Speaking of love bugs, another moment I want to remember in my baby book, is that randomly throughout the day, my sweet Brady Bear looks at me and says, “Mommy, I love you” or will say “Mommy, I have a surprise for you” and then will give me a hug and kiss. Then Cash will run over and imitate Brady and give me a hug. They just melt my heart.

Soccer???

Exhibit A: Look on the far left and you can see Brady and Noah playing. The game is actually taking place on the far right.
Exhibit B: Brady and Noah holding up each side of the goal posts. Neither one of them are the goalie.
Exhibit C: Brady and Noah inspecting the blue cones. A few seconds later, the ball rolled right past them and they didn't even flinch.
Exhibit D: During the team huddle, Brady and Noah have there own private huddle.
Exhibit E: Coach Delany trying to give the boys some words of wisdom and instead they try to tackle him.

Brady started playing Spring Soccer recently at the YMCA. With this crazy cold weather though it’s felt more like winter soccer which is why we’ve only made it to a few practices. The first game was played during 30 degree weather and felt like a blizzard. All the kids were crying because they were cold, Brady wore socks on his hands to try to stay warm, and the team huddles were done underneath comforters. It was miserable! The following week, the weather was much nicer but we had another obstacle as you can see in the pictures above. Brady and Noah were inseparable and paid no attention to the game. They were all over the place except by the ball. Coach Delany kept calling their names “Brady Noah” the entire game in attempt to corral them but it didn’t work. Noah’s parents and I decided every Friday we need to get the boys together to play so they are bored of each other by Saturday and can hopefully concentrate on the game. We’ll see what happens next week…

The Little Gym

Thursday, February 11, 2010
Cash loves his new Little Gym class. It usually takes him a while to warm up but once he gets comfortable, Cash is a “beast” (his class mascot) on all of the platforms. Hanging on the bars is by far his favorite, he even lands flat footed and doesn’t wobble when he dismounts. Oh wait, that’s not his favorite time, I forgot about the BALLS, and we all know about Cash and balls! Every week towards the end of class, the instructor drops a jumbo trash can full of about thirty bouncing balls on the mat to practice kicking, rolling, catching, etc. In Cash’s eyes, this is as much fun as Christmas morning.
Well, I'm back for a quick update....yes, Daddy is back on the blog.

We had an eventful weekend with Brady and Casharoo. Friday started off with Cash playing "Charades."

Well...who is Cash???......He's BRADY! Well, acting like Brady when he holds ALL of his "whoobies"! Cash is holding his "lovies" instead of Brady's "whoobies."

Saturday we headed to Cash's buddy Andre's 2nd birthday party. They had a moonwalk and a train!

Saturday night Brady and Daddy went out for some beers and smores!
Pictured below: Mommy (always has to get in a picture with them and never lets Daddy in pics!); Cash (I want Dadda in this picture...see my sad face; Brady (Squinty Jones).

Dentist

Friday, February 5, 2010

Thank you Ms. Paula for the token for being such a good boy at my first dentist visit. Guess what I won with it: a pimp gold chain! We had to bribe Brady to take his new jewelry off when we went to eat dinner that night.

Carnival Fun

Saturday, January 31, 2010

Happy Birthday Baby Nolan! We had the best time at our friend's carnival party. We played and played at the Schomburg Fairgrounds and won tons of cool prizes and ate tons of yummy food. We were even able to ride coin operated horses and cars! Brady enjoyed the water balloon toss the most and wanted to make sure that we were doing that at our party next month. Cash liked the bean bag toss the most and threw them over and over again to win a prize but Ringmaster Kellie deserves the grand prize for throwing the best party!
