Cash's First Day of Preschool

Monday, August 29, 2011

With all of the prep work surrounding Brady starting Kindergarten, we were finally able to focus on Cash's first day back to preschool. He will tell anyone, "Brady goes to kindergarten and I GO TO LITTLE LAMBS." He was super excited for weeks but when the big day arrived he was a little nervous. He was very quiet on the car ride and his face was beginning to frown. When we arrived at school, he didn't want to walk and I had to carry him. The tears and cries began at his classroom. He wouldn't let me go. I took him inside and sat him in a chair next to his teacher at the puzzle table. He just screamed and screamed. Ms. Brenda picked him up and sat him on her lap alongside our family friend, Andre, who was also crying. When I walked out, they were still sobbing. I stood by and after a couple minutes they had stopped. They're pretty cute together and have the same personality. We have a bet with Andre's parents to see which one talks first at school. Ha ha!

Obviously, I wasn't able to take any pictures in the morning so in the afternoon, I snapped one of Cash in front of his school. He did not look like the same kid. He was happy and smiling from ear to ear. He even wanted to walk out himself wearing his backpack which he never did last year. Cash said he had fun at Little Lambs and wants to go back. Yay!

Every day since has gotten a little easier with fewer and fewer tears each day. As I'm writing this (one month into the school year), today was the first morning that Cash did not cry in the morning for his drop-off. Even though the tears are gone, he still wants to be carried in and loved on for as long as he can. I must admit that I don't mind one bit! :)
