Brady's 6th Birthday Party

5-4-3-2-1 Blast Off!!!! Space Commander Brady invited over some very special space cadets for an out-of-this-world mission in honor of his 6th birthday!

I will be the first to admit that I maybe just went a tad bit overboard on this party. I blame it in the fact that Brady knew for over a year that he wanted a space party so I had too much time to come up with way too many ideas and once something is in my head, I am determined to find a way to do it. My main hitch was that little astronaut Brady loves space so much and knows every detail (remember he knew all of the planets by his 3rd birthday)! Unfortunately, everything I could find was too kiddy or cartoonish yet he likes the realistic photos of space, he's six now, you know. With that being said, I finally decided to create everything myself with space flash cards that had beautiful pictures of the solar system and everything eventually worked out.

All of the space cadets had flying saucer pizza to give them some fuel before their special mission. The kids had Jupiter Juice to drink but the adults had some yummy Cosmic punch (sangria). If they were still hungry, they could snack on various choices: Little Dippers (carrot sticks), Big Dippers (apple slices), Meteorites (homemade peanut butter balls), Saturn Rings (Cheerios), Asteroids (Kix), Stars (star shaped cereal), Moon Rocks (rock candy), and of course Moon Pies! I almost forgot the Moon Balls, which I don't know how since they took two days to complete. They were absolutely delicious Oreo Balls coated and decorated with gray chocolate to look like miniature moons, craters and all! We topped everything off with Neptune Ice (blue snowcones) so we could cool off and complete our mission.

After weighing in at the Astronaut Check-In station, each cadet received a special mission pass which allowed them all access to the training facilities at Bartels Mission Control Center. They were instructed to complete all of the levels of training in order to receive a special Certificate of Completion signed by Space Commander Brady himself and a metal to be presented at the end of the party.

Level 1: Shuttle Orientation (color diagram of space shuttle and add solar system stickers)
Level 2: Moonwalk (Brady saw this cool robot bouncer on the computer last year and hence the space party was born)
Level 3: Intergalactic Toss (throw a space shuttle frisbee through a hula hoop)
Level 4: Ring Around Saturn (throw a hula hoop around a big ball)
Level 5: Rocket Launch (the kids favorite thing was launching these foam rockets)
Level 6: Asteroid Pit (jumping into a pit of foam balls)
Level 7: Tranquilize Aliens (throwing water balloons at Alien Uncle Steve and Alien Bubba)

Overall, all the little astronauts had a BLAST, specifically Space Commander Brady! He was smiling from ear to ear flying all over Bartels Mission Control Center! MISSION SUCCESS!!!!
