Brady's Meet the Teacher Night

Friday, August 24, 2012

Brady was nervous and sad about going back to school after his fun, long summer but as soon as he walked into Birkes, he cheered up very quickly. The first thing he did when we arrived in his classroom was walk up and give his new teacher a big, tight hug (unpromtped). It was absolutely precious!

Brady was super excited and could not believe that Ms. Bailey put him directly next to his best buddy from Kindergarten, Carter. Greg was a proud Daddy when Brady marched up to Ms. Bailey and matter of factly asked her if he could still sit next to Carter on the first day of school. This was not the shy, rarely making eye contact with adults, six-year old that we were used to. Luckily for Brady, Ms. Bailey sweetly answered yes and said that she likes to make her students happy. How nice!

This sign says it all, I'm "Wild About 1st Grade." I am so comforted going to a school were a majority of the staff and teachers know Brady and call him by name. A few teachers that I had never even seen before came up to Brady and gave him a hug and welcomed him back. I positively know that he is in good hands. Every person who asked which teacher Brady has this year exclaimed without hesitation that Ms. Bailey was the BEST! I also think it is a good sign that a fellow teacher's daughter and a PTO board member's daughter is also in his class. I'm pretty sure that we won the pick of the litter! YAY!!! This also reminds me, when we introduced ourselves to Ms. Bailey after Brady's sweet hug, she whispered, "I've heard good things" and gave us a wink. Heeheehee!

***Even though we left Meet the Teacher in high spirits, poor Brady cried himself to sleep the night before his first day of school. He said that he was sad because he was going to miss me and that we weren't going to be able to do fun things together anymore. He had been very spoiled this summer doing fun things everyday and was not ready for all the work involved in first grade. After some comforting and lots of kisses, the sweet boy calmed down and was ready for his new adventure.
