Cash's New Bracelet

Wednesday, November 18

Yes, that is a hospital bracelet in the picture. While at Santa’s Wonderland, in the midst of all the running around like banjies, Cash hit his head on the corner of a table. He cried and calmed down in a few minutes after consoling him and went right back to playing. Once we settled in for the car ride home, he started holding his right ear and finally cried himself to sleep. After we got home and he woke up, he immediately began crying again and holding his forehead like you do when you have a bad migraine. This went on for about an hour. I of course jumped to the conclusion that his head was swelling and that he was bleeding internally from the bump and called the doctor for some reassurance. They, on the other hand, agreed with me and said that he needed to go to the ER for a cat scan. It was a horrible experience. Cash was an angel in the waiting room and examine room. We just read his favorite Baby Einstein book over and over again. It was the actual cat scan that was a nightmare. The poor baby had to be strapped down and had to hold still for five minutes while going through the scary machine. Cash was terrified. He even broke through the straps so the shocked technicians had to put the heavy duty adult ones on instead because Cash was so strong (which then equaled 10 minutes of laying still and screaming). I tried to console him and pretend we were going up into a spaceship to visit all of the planets and which seemed to help a little. Poor kid will probably now be scared of spaceships for the rest of his life. After all of the tears and waiting for results, we thankfully discovered everything was normal and that I tortured poor Cash for nothing. The doctor said he probably just had a bad headache from the bang to his head. You think!
