Meet our newest member of the family, Nikki, the Elf on the Shelf. Brady and Cash are just in awe of our new little friend. The Christmas tradition holds that the special elf reports to Santa Claus every night and lets him know if you have been naughty or nice. The next day he returns to a different spot in your house. You can talk to him but he’s under strict orders not to talk back. You’re not allowed to touch him either or his “magic” will go away which Brady thinks is the coolest thing ever.
Every morning Brady races around the house to see where Nikki is perched. Even Cash laughs and points when he finds him and says “Niddi”. His vocabulary is really beginning to blossom the last few days. He points to different objects and names them, can repeat the words he hears when he’s in the mood, but his favorite thing of all to say is “NO,” thanks to the laughing reaction he received from Granny and Papa. The sweetest thing is every night when Cash goes to bed, he tells him “Ni Ni Niddi” (Night Night Nikki).
I’ll be sad when we have to pack Nikki away until next year. I have a feeling though he will be a keepsake in our family for years to come. As much as I don’t like to think about them growing up, I can foresee Brady and Cash having as much fun as we are hiding our special elf for their own kids. Thank you Grandma for bringing Nikki into our family!
