Future Engineer

Brady’s favorite toys are Buzz and Spiderman but his favorite activity is Trios. They are similar to Legos but are small with sticks and attachments like Tinkertoys. He can play with them for hours at a time and is quite good actually. One morning, Brady woke up and said, “Mommy, I want to build this.” He had been thinking and planning in his bed while waiting on everyone else to wake up. It was a picture of the space shuttle on the cover of his Rockets book. I had no idea how he would make it and knew a frustration fit was soon to come. After about thirty minutes of him sizing things up and making sure everything was level and freestanding, this is what Brady came up with. I was pretty impressed. Everything was symmetrical and the space shuttle could even detach from the rocket engines. Brady easily can be an engineer someday when he grows up just for the way he plans and constructs things. He even knows the mathematical formula aspect of building. This was our exact conversation one day:
B: Mommy, 5 plus 5 equals 10.
M: Yes, Brady.
B: And, 10 plus 10 equals 20.
M: Wow, Brady, good job!
B: So, 5 plus 5 plus 5 plus 5 equals 20!
M (to myself): What the heck Brady!
